Fences and Hurricanes: What You Should Know

Now that hurricane season has ended, it’s the time to assess your fencing situation and consider upgrading to a fence that can withstand the possible storms of next season. An upgraded, hurricane-ready fence from Best Fence Company of Jacksonville will last for years and can be fabricated to meet wind load requirements.

Wood is No Good

Do not let your fence end up like this one above. A major downside of wooden fences is their ability to withstand Florida’s natural elements. Wooden fences are prone to damage including termites, mold and rot. They are especially susceptible to weather damage be it heavy rain, strong winds and more.  A wooden fence is no match for a hurricane with 70 mph winds. Best Fence Company of Jacksonville understands their consumers’ needs for a fence that can "weather" the elements, which is why we offer alternative fencing options.

“With Hurricane Matthew passing and lots of trees down, we are pleased to inform that our fence is in perfect condition.”- Kati, Best Fence Client

Vinyl Could Be Vital

Vinyl fences are growing in popularity. At Best Fence, vinyl fences are one of our most popular fence styles. We are proud of our vinyl fencing because it is maintenance free, highly durable and constructed with top quality, heavy-walled extrusions, all of which provide a beautiful fence that will remain beautiful and sturdy for years.

Compared to wood fences, vinyl fences will not deteriorate, chip, warp, crack or peel. Vinyl fences are even virtually impervious to Florida’s humid weather and saltwater environments.  Homeowners do not have to worry about vinyl fences fitting in with their home’s style because each vinyl fence is customizable. Check out some beautiful examples on our website.

Aluminum and Vinyl Fences

Aluminum All the Way

Another great option is Aluminum fencing, which is also a more durable material than wood fencing. Like our vinyl fencing, aluminum fencing is manufactured for Florida’s harsh climates. Aluminum and vinyl fencing are maintenance free and will not deteriorate extensively over time. Our aluminum fences have undergone intensive salt environment testing and surpasses the 3000 hour salt spray test.

Aluminum fences are double coated in a polyester powder, which is stronger than baked on enamel finishes on other fence styles. Homeowners do not have to compromise design or creativity when choosing an aluminum fence because Best Fence offers a variety of adornments to personalize each aluminum fence.

If you have a wooden fence and are ready to upgrade to a hurricane-proof fence, Best Fence Company of Jacksonville is here to work with you to create a beautiful and sturdy fence.

Gates, Gates and More Gates

Best Fence Company of Jacksonville has a variety of high quality, durable gates. Best Fence’s aluminum walk gates are constructed on 2” welded frames and are available in several colors: black, white, Florida bronze, light bronze, green and beige. Our gates are designed to match our fences at Best Fence, but they can also be tailored to match an existing fence that you already have. Either way, Best Fence has a gate for you. Let’s take a look at the gates we offer.

Ascot Style -

At Best Fence Company of Jacksonville we offer three styles of Ascot Gates: Arched 3-Rail Ascot Featuring Rings Walk Gate, 2-Rail Ascot Style Walk Gate and 3-Rail Ascot Style Arched Gate.

1. Arched 3-Rail Ascot Featuring Rings Walk Gate:
The Arched 3-Rail Ascot Featuring Rings Walk Gate is a beautiful touch and addition to any fence. As seen here, it can go with an already existing fence – this incredible brick fence – or it is always a great match with one of Best Fence’s 3-Rail Ascots.

2. 2-Rail Ascot Style Walk Gate:
Our 2-Rail Ascot Style Walk Gate offers a much simpler style. It is a perfect pair with our 2-Rail Ascot Fence. The white is an amazing touch for this gate and reminds us that the simpler things in life are often the best.

3. 3-Rail Ascot Style Arched Gate:
Our final gate from the Ascot family is our 3-Rail Ascot Style Arched Gate. Similar to our 3-Rail Ascot Featuring Rings, this gate is in perfect unison when it is constructed with a 3-Rail Ascot Fence. This gate is slightly less flashy than our 3-Rail with Rings, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t the perfect fit for your home. This gate offers a consistency with the pattern of our 3-Rail Ascot, and the arch provides the perfect amount of kick to make you say “wow” every time you glance over at it.

Arched Double Swing Style -

Best Fence Jacksonville offers two styles of Arched Double Swing Gates: Arched Double Swing Gate with Rings and Quad Finials and Arched Double Swing Welded U-Frame Estate Gate.

1. Arched Double Swing Gate with Rings and Quad Finials:
The Arched Double Swing Gate with Rings and Quad Finials is a gate that means business. This gate is the king of kings. It is tall. It is wide. It is sturdy. It is durable. It is everything that a homeowner could possibly want in a gate. The Quad Finials provide a great touch, especially when constructed with contrasting colors to the gate as shown here. The rings at the bottom of the gate create a strong, artistic finish as well. This is the gate that simply has it all.

2. Arched Double Swing Welded U-Frame Estate Gate:
Our Arched Double Swing Welded U-Frame Estate Gate is everything you need in a gate and more. It doesn’t have some of the bells and whistles that its sister gate has, but it’s not supposed to. It does; however, provide the same important benefits. This is a great gate and when coupled with the right fence, it can truly be a match made in heaven for any home over.

Arched Single Swing Estate Gate with Ring and Opener -

1. Arched Single Swing Estate Gate with Ring and Opener:
This gate swings open form its side, unlike a double swing gate which opens from the center. The rings on this gate are located at the top which serve as a very eye-appealing feature to viewers. Our Arched Single Swing Estate Gate is a gate that can easily adapt to the architecture of any home.

Belmont Style Walk Gate with Triad Finials -

1. Belmont Style Walk Gate with Triad Finials:
Our Belmont with Triad Finials Gate pairs perfectly with our 3-Rail Belmont Fence. The Triad Finials create wonderful accents along the top on the gate. When the gate and fence are constructed together, the finished product is a masterpiece of consistency. While the Belmont looks stunning in any color, it just seems to take on a personality of its own when powder coated in a dark color.
