Meet Best Fence's CEO and Owner: Mike Grubbs

Best Fence’s Beginnings

Mike Grubbs began his professional career as a real estate investor. He started adding fences to a few properties, which boosted his sales, and before he knew it, he had fenced over 200 homes in nine years. Increasing curb appeal and property value to homes with quality fences was a trend that was not going away, so Mike decided to transition into the fencing business.

Grubbs founded Best Fence Company of Jacksonville in 1996 with only three employees, one truck and one crew to install fences. Driven by his passion for delivering quality fencing services to residents across Northeast Florida, Best Fence now has over 25 employees and six installation crews. Mike’s early investment paid off and turned aluminum and vinyl fencing into the most popular fence styles across our developing region. Mike has built Best Fence into one of the largest fence companies in Northeast Florida.

Involved CEO

As the CEO of Best Fence, Mike Grubbs is very hands on and works to guarantee his customers are 100 percent satisfied with their custom fences. He personally meets with HOA boards and consults with them on many projects from the aesthetics of the community to which fence style would meet community regulations.

How Best Fence Stands Out

“Since we manufacture our own fences, we’re able to customize fences in a way that’s been unheard of in the industry.” Mike recalls a particular decade-old fence to showcase Best Fence’s customization talents. “We can pull up a fence from 15 years ago, and in our computer, we can fabricate it in the same way it was 15 years ago, and no one can tell where the new fence has been added.” Best fence offers customers longevity and weather resistance warranties with their fences.

Best Part of the Job

Mike Grubbs has a passion for helping people solve problems, whether it’s matching a decade-old fence to helping a customer after a poor fencing installation from another company, Mike is there to make sure his customers love their new custom fence.

Staying true to his passion, Mike has also given back to the Northeast Florida community and has donated many fences over the years to families and communities in need.

Today, Best Fence has designed and built thousands of fences and looks forward to reaching new customers as it expands. See our work now in communities like Julington Creek, Nocatee, Durbin Crossing, Sawgrass, Ponte Vedra and Bartram Springs.

Light Up Your Fence for Christmas

Christmas is fast-approaching and that means it’s time to turn your home into a dazzling winter wonderland! You can't forget to give your fence some Christmas love too. With countless lighting options to choose from, your home’s fence can be the brightest beacon in your neighborhood! Check out some Christmas inspired fence décor below:

This fence features a lovely display of garland with a big red bow for emphasis. For Floridians, artificial snow is a great way to add a touch of winter to your home without worrying about a snowstorm. This décor would look great on any type of fence from vinyl to aluminum.

If you enjoy a more subtle approach to your holiday décor, go with these dangling icicle lights for your fence. Icicle lights can add pizzazz to an otherwise plain backdrop. Not only do they look beautiful, but they’re great for tall or short fences depending, on your style.

Classic, large bulb Christmas lights are the perfect, colorful addition to any fence. They look stunning and will help your home stand out among the rest on any cold, dark winter’s evening. What a great complement to any vinyl or aluminum fence!

For homes with an entrance gate, garlands with lights not only make a statement, but they make your home look instantly holiday-ready. This décor style is versatile and can be paired with hidden lights attached to the gate posts or woven into the garland. Either option will light up your home this holiday season.

Fences and Hurricanes: What You Should Know

Now that hurricane season has ended, it’s the time to assess your fencing situation and consider upgrading to a fence that can withstand the possible storms of next season. An upgraded, hurricane-ready fence from Best Fence Company of Jacksonville will last for years and can be fabricated to meet wind load requirements.

Wood is No Good

Do not let your fence end up like this one above. A major downside of wooden fences is their ability to withstand Florida’s natural elements. Wooden fences are prone to damage including termites, mold and rot. They are especially susceptible to weather damage be it heavy rain, strong winds and more.  A wooden fence is no match for a hurricane with 70 mph winds. Best Fence Company of Jacksonville understands their consumers’ needs for a fence that can "weather" the elements, which is why we offer alternative fencing options.

“With Hurricane Matthew passing and lots of trees down, we are pleased to inform that our fence is in perfect condition.”- Kati, Best Fence Client

Vinyl Could Be Vital

Vinyl fences are growing in popularity. At Best Fence, vinyl fences are one of our most popular fence styles. We are proud of our vinyl fencing because it is maintenance free, highly durable and constructed with top quality, heavy-walled extrusions, all of which provide a beautiful fence that will remain beautiful and sturdy for years.

Compared to wood fences, vinyl fences will not deteriorate, chip, warp, crack or peel. Vinyl fences are even virtually impervious to Florida’s humid weather and saltwater environments.  Homeowners do not have to worry about vinyl fences fitting in with their home’s style because each vinyl fence is customizable. Check out some beautiful examples on our website.

Aluminum and Vinyl Fences

Aluminum All the Way

Another great option is Aluminum fencing, which is also a more durable material than wood fencing. Like our vinyl fencing, aluminum fencing is manufactured for Florida’s harsh climates. Aluminum and vinyl fencing are maintenance free and will not deteriorate extensively over time. Our aluminum fences have undergone intensive salt environment testing and surpasses the 3000 hour salt spray test.

Aluminum fences are double coated in a polyester powder, which is stronger than baked on enamel finishes on other fence styles. Homeowners do not have to compromise design or creativity when choosing an aluminum fence because Best Fence offers a variety of adornments to personalize each aluminum fence.

If you have a wooden fence and are ready to upgrade to a hurricane-proof fence, Best Fence Company of Jacksonville is here to work with you to create a beautiful and sturdy fence.

Good Fences Make Good Neighbors

What Makes A Good Neighbor?

Robert Frost made the phrase “good fences make good neighbors” famous in his poem about two neighbors who mend a wall dividing their homes. Like the neighbors in Frost’s poem, good neighbors are those who respect others’ boundaries. A good fence can also eliminate neighborly quarrels by clearly defining property lines.

How Best Fence Can Help

Best Fence offers a variety of fence styles to fit your home’s style and your ideal vision. Our best fences are made out of aluminum and vinyl, and are available in a variety of styles and customizations.

You never have to worry about meeting Home Owner’s Association codes or regulations because our staff works to ensure all codes are met before construction begins. These codes and regulations could regard pool fence installations, height requirements, etc.

Best Fence offers fence features like functional gates to give your home a more enclosed look and feel. Our staff is here to work with you and help you create a unique fence that will complete your home. With a fence from Best Fence, your house will stand out above the rest in the best way.

Current Good Neighbors with Good Fences

You may also want to consider your neighbors when choosing the look of your new fence. Will it clash with an already existing fence in your neighborhood? Drive around and see what choices your neighbors have already made. Best Fence Company of Jacksonville serves the Jacksonville and St. Augustine communities. Our good neighbor customers reside in various neighborhoods including Palencia, Nocatee, Durbin Creek, Oakleaf Plantation, Julington Creek, Bartram Park and more. Drive around, check out your neighborhood, then give Best Fence a call.

Why Fall is the Best Season to Build a Fence

Fall is here, pumpkin spice drinks are everywhere, and the scent of cinnamon wafts through your home.

The interior of your home embraces fall and its cooler temperatures and warmer colors, but your lawn can feel dull after the summer. Spruce it up with a brand new residential fence to complete your home’s fall look. Get a head start on your neighbors who may wait until the spring to start enhancing their homes as they prepare for those summer barbecues. Here are four reasons fall is the prime time to build a fence.

Less Hassle, More Enjoyment

Spring is a busy time for everyone from families, couples and singletons. Keep your spring time hustle and bustle to a minimum by jump starting your fence building/construction before the mayhem begins in April. While you’re stressing out over spring cleaning, spring breaks and summer preparations, you won’t have to worry about your yard. It will have already been improved upon with a well-crafted fence, so you can enjoy the outdoors and entertain your friends and family.

Pool Ready in Time for Summer

Pools are a great feature of a home, especially in the summertime. Whether you have kids or just want to enjoy the outdoors lounging by the pool, enclosing the pool area with a fence is always an important addition. If you build your fence in the Fall, you won't find yourself in a situation where you're trying to install it at the last minute later on when the Sun is back and the kids are melting! Don't wait and take care of it now. Best Fence Company of Jacksonville guarantees approval by county inspectors and will work with your Homeowners Association or Management Company to ensure your fence meets any covenants and restrictions in your community.

Seasonal Promotions

Best Fence is currently running some promotion, when you purchase 150 linear feet or more! Now you can save $100 off of your project whether it is a fence to enclose a pool or one to enclose your entire yard. For those customers who want an aluminum fence, Best Fence will arch your second aluminum gate (as a decorative feature) at no additional cost to you. For those customers who desire a vinyl fence, we’re offering a “Victorian Stake” Lattice Accent to your vinyl fence, should you want to add a bit more pizzazz to your fence.

Scenery Is Everything

The autumn leaves falling down, filling your freshly fenced-in yard will make for a picture perfect scene. With a fence and gate from Best Fence, your home is sure to be the stand-out home in the neighborhood. Don’t let the prime season pass you by!
